The material
What coco chips do that cocopeat cannot
Coco chips are cut from the coarse husk rather than the fine pith. They hold far less water per kilogram and create much larger air spaces, which is why they are blended into substrate wherever root-zone oxygen is the limiting factor rather than water supply.
The difference is measurable across our own blend range: 100% cocopeat gives 5.2% air-filled porosity, 100% coco chips gives 30.8%. Everything between those two figures is a question of how much buffer you trade for how much air.
Grading
Three grades, screened separately
Chips are cut and screened into their own size grades, and blended to a specified pith-to-chip ratio where that is what a crop needs.

Grade selection
Coco chip grades: 6–12 mm, 12–18 mm and 18–25 mm
- 6 – 12 mm Blends smoothly with pith and suits slabs and grow bags where you want extra air without opening the profile so far that water distribution becomes uneven. The usual choice for vegetable substrate blends.
- 12 – 18 mm The general-purpose grade for pot culture and for orchid and ornamental growing, where free drainage matters more than retention.
- 18 – 25 mm Maximum drainage. Used in large pots, in high-rainfall conditions, and as a drainage layer at the base of a container.
Chips are also supplied loose or blended to a specified pith-to-chip ratio rather than as blocks. Because we blend to order, ratios between our standard steps are not a problem — if your crop needs 65:35, that is what we make.

EC measured by the 1:1.5 volume extract method. If your specification uses saturated media extract, tell us and we will supply the equivalent figure. The two differ by roughly a factor of two, and it is the most common reason a perfectly good sample gets rejected.

Coco chips questions buyers ask
We are a manufacturer. Chips are cut and screened at our own facility in Peravurani, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu, from husk sourced nearby. Visitors are welcome.
6–12 mm blends smoothly with pith for slabs and grow bags. 12–18 mm is the general purpose grade for pot culture, orchids and ornamentals. 18–25 mm gives maximum drainage for large pots, high rainfall conditions and drainage layers.
Yes. Blending and packing are done to your requirement. If your crop needs 65:35 or any ratio between our standard steps, that is what we produce.

No to both, and we say so plainly. We wash and screen but do not heat-treat, and we do not currently test for pathogens. We do not hold organic certification.
